The way the morning started, clouds and scattered rain drops we thought it was going to be a washout with rain. As the day went on, we found out that we couldn’t have asked for better weather for our lovely bride & groom. Melissa & Rob, along with their families and wedding guests shared a wonderfully perfect day to exchange their vows and display their love for one another. We were and are still so very happy to have been the ones to capture their moments, something that they will be look back on for the rest of their lives. Thank you for the fun, the memories and a great addition to our wedding portfolio.

High School Senior Sessions
At Martin Jardine Photography, we try to allow the seniors that we photograph to express themselves in their own unique way. From wardrobe and sets to props and lighting, creating a portrait that expresses their personality is my ultimate goal. Our campaign theme for this year’s High School senior portraits is, “the here and now you”. We like it because no matter where you end up in life, your senior portrait is something that captures your memories and personality at that pivotal and oh so memorable time in your journey into adulthood. It’s something you can look back on with laughter, tears and fond memories for years and years to come. If a senior portrait is something you need to check off your to-do list for that special junior or senior in your life, our portraiture will deliver the quality and personal service that you deserve.
Reserve your session now. 902.452.5750 we look forward to capturing the “here and now you”. Visit our website to view more from these Senior Portrait Experiences.

Aside
Well, we are in our 2nd week of March Free Sessions promotion. We’ve been offering free portrait sessions for the month of March to anyone and everyone that wants an updated portrait. Only exclusions are business and modelling sessions which would then be used for the purpose of self promotion and monetary gain.
I would have thought giving away a free session would be easy and that everyone would jump on the offer but it has not been that way. I think promoting the offer solely on “Facebook” has been more of a hinderance than a great promotional tool. You see, FB has changed the way business and people connect and have made changes to how, who and when a “friend or liked group” receives news feeds and top stories from other’s they are connected to. The issue is that people you are connected to, don’t always necessarily see your updates and this is bad for anyone trying to let people know what their up to.
I’m just finding out about this “issue”, as are many other people who rely on FB connections to keep people updated on their updates and snippets of information. So what I thought was going to be a huge promotion has certainly been not as grand as expected. Timing wise it’s ok as we are busy here with Cheerleading, more on that in the next post, but it would have been nicer to have more people take advantage of this great offer. You can’t beat free sessions with no obligations to purchase anything.
If I don’t manage to post again this week, it’s because I’ve been busy editing portrait sessions and getting advertising ready for the big CHEER BLAST Cheerleading event at Exhibition Park this weekend. Our daughter’s team, West Halifax Cheer (WHC) & Scotia Cheerleading All-Stars are co hosting the event and it looks like it’s going to be a great weekend of Cheerleading. Martin Jardine Photography is the official event photographer, capturing team portraits on Saturday and action portraits on Championship Sunday.
Hope to see you there….

Halifax Photographer and Cheerleading Dad
Haven’t posted in a while, been a little busy with coming up with promotions and new job leads. However, have also been busy with a family activity and something that I’ve never thought I would ever be apart of. Cheerleading.
Our daughter is a new Cheerleader with West Halifax Cheer and has been involved since September of 2010. At first I was a little hesitant and not sure what to expect as I really had no clue as to what Cheer was all about. As far as I thought, Cheerleaders were always on the sidelines of the school games, cheering on us boys, hoping to date the most popular players. 20 years later, I have come to realize, its’s something totally different and I’ve come to really respect Cheer as a sport and for it’s athleticism.
I’ll post more over the coming weeks as I have time to gather some thoughts on the subject of being a Photographer and Cheer (cheerleading) Dad.
Back from vacation
Just returned from a little break from winter, we all went to Walt Disney World for a little fun and RnR. It was alot of firsts for everyone, first flights and trip to Disney for Sasha and both of our girls. We almost had to cancel due to the storm on Feb 1 but Air Canada helped us out when Continental was trying to leave us stranded for 4 days in Newark.
Our resort of choice was the Animal Kingdom Lodge and it did not disappoint. It was everything we expected and some. We have described it at a double vacation, one to Disney as well as Africa. The Animal Kingdom Lodge offered something for all your senses and you truly feel like you are visiting a true African lodge. Mind you, you have all the amenities of a first class resort and awesome family parks close by.
If you are thinking about visiting Disney World and haven’t decided on a resort, Animal Kingdom Lodge is where you need to go. It’s not cheap but there are some excellent deals on right now with discounts up to 40% off, making it very affordable. We’ve talked to many “Cast members” who say that they only stay at the AKL and only go to The Animal Kingdom Park as their getaway vacation. There is so much to do there for everyone in the family.
In a day or two, I’ll write about what our family liked about the resort and some thoughts from our girls on the whole experience.
Yours in photography and now travel.
Cheers, Martin
